Ontario Cup #4
Short Track Speed Skating Age Class
Kitchener-Waterloo
February 14, 2010

 

Five members of the Sudbury Sprinters Speed Skating Club participated in Ontario Cup#4 over the past weekend in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Kaelyn Pitre finished second for a silver in Midget Girls while Keegan Pitre competing Junior Men also garnered a silver.

Sudbury other results included a 5th place finish for Kelsey Pitre in Juvenile Girls. Also, competing were Alyssa Hreljac and Alexie Therrien.

 

The Sprinters set many personal bests throughout another successful weekend at the last Cup of the season which was attended by 188 of the Provinces fastest Short Track Speed Skaters aged 6-18.

Keegan Pitre and Kelsey Pitre will be competing for their first times in the Ontario Winter Games to be held in Sudbury at Countryside Arena March 5-6, 2010. The field for the event will include the Provinces 61 fastest short track speed skaters aged 13-18.

Silver Medalists: Keegan and Kaelyn Pitre

Regional Ability Meet

October 3-4, 2009 London, Ontario

 

Seven members of the Sudbury Sprinters Speed Skating Club participated in the first Regional Ability meet of the year in London, Ontario over the past weekend.

 

Results included a silver medal for Alyssa Hreljac as well as fourth place finishes by Julien Therrien and Joel Manchuk. Alexie Therrien and Sam Bouffard finshed 6th and 8th respectively in their groups.

 

Also, competing were Jared Manchuk and Carolyn Hreljac achieved personal bests.

 

Each of the Sprinters who participated set many personal bests throughout the successful weekend.

 

There were 126 skaters representing clubs from across the Province aged 6-18. Skaters are grouped with others with similar seed times regardless of age or gender at ability competitions.

 

Next action for the Club's skaters will be in Cambridge, Ontario for Ontario Cup#2.

Ontario Cup #1/Qualifier

North American Short Track Speed Skating Age Class

November 1-2, 2008 Cambridge, Ontario

 

Four members of the Sudbury Sprinters Speed Skating Club participated in Ontario Cup#1 and North American Qualifier over the past weekend in Cambridge.


Kaelyn Pitre finished fourth in Midget Girls and qualified for the Ontario team. She will represent Ontario at North American Age Class Championships in Madison, Wisconsin the first week of December. This will be Pitre's first international competition.


Sudbury had other strong results including a 4th place finish for Keegan Pitre in Juvenile Boys, a 7th place finish for Alyssa Hreljac in Bantam Girls and 9th place finish for Kelsey Pitre in Juvenile Girls.


The Sprinters set many personal bests throughout another successful weekend at the first Cup of the season which was attended by 186 of the Provinces fastest Short Track Speed Skaters aged 6-18.


Next action for the speed skaters will be Clarington at the end of the month.
